What does an Echocardiography entail? Better known as an ECG, this system of wires connected to a monitor enables the doctor, mostly used by Cardiologists and or Cardiothoracic surgeons, especially trauma and emergency room doctors to monitor your systolic and diastolic reading of your heart.
The ECG monitor will give out your pulse reading as well as your BP ( blood pressure )
When looking at your ECG, either on the monitor or the physical paper printout, a doctor can analyze what he or she sees and give appropriate treatments, whether now or later.
The systolic and diastolic reading is indicated by the line on the screen that runs from left tor right and then beeps up (diastolic)and then down (systolic) from the flat line indicating the readings as per the rhythm of your heartbeat.
A good ECG reading is 120 (diastolic) over 80 (systolic)
