Tools to Assess Children for Aspergers Test
There are few tests to assess and analyze for Aspergers and here are a few:
- 1) Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS):
Although widely used especially with kids, using 15 different items that evaluate the child’s emotional regulation, social interaction, adaptability, thinking skills, amongst others, it helps the practitioner to identify the spectrum and severity of the disorder.
Though a good thing it has been shown to sometimes over evaluate kids over two by giving out the wrong reading and overdiagnosing.
Gilliam Autism Rating Scale (GADS):
Used for ages 3 to 22 this has been especially helpful to distinguish between Aspergers, Autism, and other behavioral disorders. and takes about 5 to 10minutes and can be done by a parent, teacher, and or medical professional.
Asperger Syndrome Diagnostic Scale (ASDS):
This test looks at specific aspects of Aspergers by documenting progress and suggests goals.
