Wherever you live there is probably somewhere within easy reach to go hiking. One of the biggest benefits of hiking is to keep fit and healthy; walking is one of the best forms of exercise there is. Hiking can be enjoyed alone, or with others and although it’s preferred to have good weather, it can be enjoyed regardless of the weather. Hiking doesn’t cost much either; depending on where you are walking, you’ll need a good pair of walking shoes and perhaps a backpack. Hiking lets you set and achieve goals too, whether it’s walking 5 miles a day or 100 miles in a week. And of course, hiking is a great way to enjoy some of the world’s most beautiful and scenic places, whether hiking the UK’s Pennine Way, the Appalachian Trail in America or the Way of St. James in northern Spain.
