Power BI enables an organization to collect its various data sources into a cohesive whole. This data collection can then be visualized and manipulated through a range of apps, software as a service applications and framework connectors to give a coherent, graphics/based view of the data to provide interactive insights into all aspects of the business.
Power BI administration involves managing, across the entire organization, the settings that control how the software operates. This includes managing users and groups, buying required licences and managing their access and security settings. It also involves choosing data sources as well as data classification and tracking including implementing information governance and data protection policies. Once the collection is implemented the administrator is responsible for managing users’ work spaces and ensuring there is access to required computing resources. Using the provided SDK and APIs the administrator can also create custom tools for users and scripts to automate functions such as custom reports.
