Established by David Belle circa 1980, Parkour is a movement that was developed from military training and is believed to have originated in France. Also known as Art du Deplacement, it is essentially an obstacle course which teaches its practitioners, known as tracers or traceurs, how to navigate a complex environment in the most efficient and quickest way possible. Today, one of the best known places to learn and practice this discipline is at the Move Academy in Singapore. Parkour Singapore is considered the best option for both novices and the more skilled.
Among the events sponsored by Move Academy are what they call Jams, where practitioners can gather to exchange ideas and experiences in a supportive learning environment. Another popular event is the Lion City Gathering, which features athletic competitions of all kinds. Whatever one’s skill level, those who wish to begin, or continue their training, can find camaraderie and support at this largest Parkour academy in Asia.
