The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is regarded as the foremost framework for managing IT service delivery. By adopting it, companies ensure that their services are delivered based on a set of consistent, well-defined processes which incorporate best practices and result in a consistent level of service delivery.
The ITIL Foundation certification is the first of five levels of accreditation that is offered to candidates that want to adopt this system for managing the life-cycle of IT services. The Foundation certification offers an introduction to the ITIL philosophy and covers the basics of the framework. There are no prerequisites for candidates and anyone interested in the subject matter can apply. To achieve the certification candidates must pass an exam consisting of 40 multiple choice questions that must be answered within a 60 minute period (26 correct answers are required to pass).
