Crushers and screens are essential pieces of mining equipment that are used to break down large rocks, ores, and other materials into smaller, more manageable sizes. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, each designed for a specific job.
Jaw crushers are the most common type of crusher. They use a compressing force to reduce the size of materials such as rocks, ores or aggregates by squeezing it between two jaws – one stationary and one that moves back and forth relative to it by a cam or pitman mechanism. The gap between the two jaws is known as the crushing chamber.
Impact crushers use an impact force instead of pressure to reduce material size. They work on objects with medium hardness such as limestone or coal with an ideal reduction ratio of 10:1 or higher.
Cone crushers work similarly to gyratory crushers but have a much shorter spindle with a larger diameter crushing surface relative to its vertical dimension which increases its capacity while allowing it to handle larger feed sizes than primary gyratories do.
