The money flip is one of the oldest cons out there. The concept is that a mark will be contacted and offered a chance to make money: The person offering the “opportunity” will point out that they have an exploit whereby they can take the amount off a pre-paid card, add a zero, and then send the money right back to the mark.
Suffice to say that there is no magical exploit that allows the amount on a card to be increased. Once the mark tries this, the money is taken off the card and disappears, with the con artist blocking them from further contact.
The Western Union money flip is a common scam and one that takes advantage of a person’s greed overpowering the person’s common sense. As usual, anything that sounds too good to be true usually is, making it easy to avoid once you know about it.
