If you’re an art student in London life drawing models may be a big part of your regular practice. But have you ever wondered how to become a life model for drawing classes? There are no specific qualifications or training needed, and getting work often begins with volunteering your services. It’s often easier to find work with smaller art groups or clubs, and a good place to look for work or promote your services is your local art college, university or school. To be a life model you’ll generally need to be well groomed, physically fit and strong enough to keep an often uncomfortable pose for a period of time. And of course, this is not a job for the shy or self conscious; you’ll need to be comfortable with students staring at your naked body and drawing what they see.
