Andropause is a natural process that many men experience as they grow older. It occurs when testosterone levels in the body decrease and can lead to physical, emotional, and sexual changes. Andropause affects every man differently because it depends on how much testosterone has been lost. The most common symptoms are low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, increased fat around the waistline (which causes weight gain), depression or mood swings, difficulty concentrating or remembering details from work or schoolwork (or just not focusing at all), and decreased muscle mass.
There are three things you should know about Andropause:
1) It’s common. It is a natural phenomenon that occurs in men as they age.
2) It often goes undiagnosed
3) There are treatments available for symptoms.
Andropause is the male equivalent of menopause, but it typically begins later and ends earlier than its female counterpart. It affects up to 40% of all aging males at some point in their lives.
